Tracing its origins back to the Department of Commerce in the 1920s, the School of Business Administration serves about 1,300 students in its innovative undergraduate and MBA programs.

The School's thirty-seven full time faculty members teach and do research in a number of areas, including accounting, marketing management, financial management, human resources, quantitative decision making, management information systems, production and service management, law, international business, and business strategy. The School's Centre for International Business Studies supports research in international business and encourages Dalhousie business students to think globally. Links with other Schools in the Faculty of Management and the university support additional academic activities in areas such as environmental management, information systems & technology, marketing informatics, electronic commerce and risk management.
Founded in 1818, Dalhousie is the largest university in Nova Scotia and the major centre for graduate and professional studies in Atlantic Canada.
